Dale Gruber Construction stays busy all year, Spring kicks off our REALLY busy season. So, here is our little public service announcement: Get started on that home remodeling project you’ve been thinking about today! Contact your contractor…sign the proposal…wherever you are in the process, we highly encourage you to take action and lock in your project. We promise we aren’t just saying this out of our own self-interest. Okay, maybe a little. But, we at Dale Gruber Construction truly care. It is exciting to update your home and we want to be able to help you. We feel bad having to break the news to a client that we are too busy or there is not sufficient time before the snow falls to complete their project. Don’t let that be you! Here are the reasons for our PSA.
1. TAKES TIME.
While every project timeline is different, click here for a general breakdown for how long a home remodel will take. One thing to keep in mind is if your project will require making various selections (cabinets, countertops, paint, etc.), make sure you set aside time to do so. We suggest planning to take a half day off of work; allowing for time to visit the showrooms and make decisions. We’re also happy to help with the selection process if desired.
2. SHORT CONSTRUCTION SEASON.
This is an important one. In Minnesota, we have what feels like a brief window where the ground is thawed and there is no snow. If there’s a delayed Spring, it results in an even shorter construction season. Sure, we might have a nice long Fall (fingers crossed!), but no guarantees. Not all home remodeling projects are affected by weather, but some definitely are.
3. CONTRACTORS BOOKED OUT.
Have you heard, there’s a skilled labor shortage? While Dale Gruber Construction has a great crew of carpenters & estimators, there are only so many hours in a day. It seems contractors and subcontractors are getting booked out earlier and earlier every year. So, it is smart to get on their calendar sooner than later. This is not meant to scare anyone, but simply some helpful advice.
4. LOCK IN PRICE.
The price of material can fluctuate (read: increase) fairly regularly. Whether you plan to start your project immediately or in a few months, you can lock in your quoted price now and eliminate the risk of a price increase.
5. SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO.
Updating your home is exciting! Having a new porch, kitchen, windows, etc. is something to look forward to. Note: We try our best to make home remodeling a smooth & fun process, not stressful.
6. MORE TIME TO ENJOY.
The sooner you start your home remodel project, the sooner it will be completed and the more time you can enjoy!
